Day one was so fun but I am so tired! Since we’re doing some extra miles on the road to catch up with the riders, we did our miles on some trails today relay style. I ran today for my wonderful grandma :) After loading the van, we got ready to head to send off and ran into the inner harbor to meet our family and friends. I am so grateful for everyone who came to support me! At the send off, we got to hear some stories and then did a dedication circle and our chant! Then, we dipped our heels in the inner harbor (we’ll do that again in San Francisco). Lastly, I got to say goodbye to my friends and family. I will definitely miss them. Today we did our first leg at a trail in Maryland and my group today was with Greta and Mary. We ran 3.5 miles for the first leg and 2.7 for the second leg in Pennsylvania. We also ran to send off and after which was about 1.2 miles to give us 7.4 miles for the day! We stopped in Elizabethtown on the way to Pittsburgh and Dominos donated 3 pizzas to us for lunch! Our second leg was on the Conewago trail so it was a familiar spot for me :) Next, we drove right to Pittsburgh to meet our host because they needed us to be there by a certain time. Once we got to Pittsburgh, we were able to meet with our host and get a tour of the church we are staying in. I was able to get a shower and meet with my best friend (Lydia) for a little bit! Some of the runners went to Panera Bread and Olive Garden and we got some donations for dinner! It was very good :) We met with a 4K alumni, Caitlin, who donated some snacks and drinks to us for the road! We also got to talk with her and hear her stories from her time with 4k. Now I am more than ready for bed! We’re about to have a team meeting and then get some sleep for another busy day tomorrow heading to Ohio!
